Step 3 of onboarding is where you create your first membership tier and design the wallet pass that your members will install on their phones. This is the core of your membership program.
What Is a Tier?
Tiers are membership levels in your program. Each tier can have its own wallet pass design (colors, logo), rewards configuration, and benefits. For example, you might have a free "Member" tier for all customers and a "VIP" tier for high spenders. During onboarding, you'll create your first (default) tier.
Step-by-Step Guide
On the Membership Setup step, enter a Tier Name (e.g., "Member", "Bronze", or your brand name).
Choose a Background Color for your wallet pass — this is the main color that appears on your members' Apple or Google Wallet pass.
Upload your Logo — this appears prominently on the wallet pass. Use a square image with a transparent or matching background for best results.
Preview your pass design using the Apple and Google toggle to see how it looks on each platform.
Configure initial Rewards (optional):
Welcome Reward — a credit amount given to new members when they join (e.g., $5.00).
Birthday Reward — a credit given annually on the member's birthday.
Loyalty Earning Rate — how much credit members earn per dollar spent (e.g., earn $1 for every $10 spent). Requires a connected sales channel.
Select your Membership Type — Free (members join at no cost) or Paid (members purchase access via Stripe).
Click Save & Continue to proceed to Step 4.
Pass Preview
The pass preview shows exactly how your membership card will appear in your members' Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. It displays:
Your logo and company name.
The member's name and unique Member ID.
Their reward balance.
A QR code (used for in-store identification).
Your chosen background color.
Tips
You can create additional tiers and refine your design later from Customize > Tiers.
Keep your first tier simple — you can always add welcome rewards and earning rules after you've tested the basics.
For the logo, a 512x512px PNG with a transparent background works best on both Apple and Google Wallet.
The first tier you create becomes the default tier — new members are automatically assigned to it unless targeting rules route them elsewhere.
