Punch cards let you run stamp-based loyalty programs where members earn punches toward a reward. Navigate to Engage > Punch Cards to create and manage your punch cards.
Creating a Punch Card
Click Create Punch Card and configure the following:
Name — A descriptive name for the punch card (e.g., "Coffee Loyalty Card" or "10th Visit Free").
Required Number of Punches — How many stamps a member needs to collect before earning the reward.
Reward on Completion — What the member receives when they fill the card (see Reward Types below).
Punch Trigger Types
Choose how members earn stamps on their punch card:
Visit-Based — Members receive one stamp per transaction or visit. This is the simplest option and works for any business type.
Category-Based — Members automatically receive a stamp when they purchase items from specific product categories. This requires a Lightspeed O-Series integration and allows you to target punches to particular product lines.
Reward Types
When a member completes their punch card, they receive one of two reward types:
Credit Reward — A dollar amount is automatically added to the member's balance (e.g., $10 credit).
Custom Reward — A custom reward with a title and description that you define (e.g., "Free Large Pizza" with instructions on how to redeem).
Audience Targeting
Just like offers and push notifications, you can target punch cards to specific member segments using filters such as wallet status, tags, tier, RFM segments, and custom properties. This lets you run different punch card programs for different groups of members.
How Punch Cards Appear on the Wallet Pass
Active punch cards are displayed on the back of the member's wallet pass. Members can see their current progress — how many punches they have earned and how many remain until they unlock their reward. The pass updates automatically as new punches are added.
Viewing Punch Card Details
Click on any punch card to open its details page, where you can view:
Analytics — Overall performance metrics for the punch card.
Member Participation — Which members are enrolled and their current punch progress.
Redemption Tracking — How many members have completed the card and redeemed their reward.
Manual Punching
You can manually add punches to a member's card from their member profile. This is useful for correcting missed punches, rewarding special interactions, or running promotions where you want to give bonus stamps.
Tips
Start with a manageable number of required punches — cards that are too hard to complete may discourage participation.
Use category-based punching with Lightspeed O-Series to automatically reward purchases of specific products.
Combine punch cards with audience targeting to create VIP-only or tier-specific loyalty programs.
Review the punch card details page regularly to monitor participation and adjust your program.
Use manual punching sparingly for special occasions or to recover from missed transactions.
Visit your Punch Cards dashboard to manage all your active programs.
