A referral program turns your loyal members into advocates by rewarding them for bringing in new customers. Navigate to Engage > Referral Program to configure your program.
Enabling the Referral Program
Use the toggle at the top of the page to enable or disable your referral program. When enabled, members will see their unique referral link on the back of their wallet pass.
Configuring Rewards
Set up the reward structure for both sides of the referral:
Referrer Reward Amount — The credit amount the existing member receives when their referral converts (e.g., $5).
Referred Reward Amount — The credit amount the new member receives when they sign up through a referral link. This is optional and can be set to $0 if you only want to reward the referrer.
Your program is displayed to members as a "Give $X, Get $X" format, making it easy for them to understand and share the value proposition with friends.
How Referral Links Work
Each member receives a unique referral link that is displayed on the back of their wallet pass. You can customize the label shown on the pass (e.g., "Refer a Friend" or "Share & Earn"). When a new customer uses the referral link to sign up, the system automatically tracks the connection between the referrer and the new member.
Requirements
You can configure requirements that must be met before referral rewards are issued:
Email Verification — The referred member must verify their email address before rewards are granted.
First Purchase Requirement (optional) — The referred member must make a purchase before either party receives their reward. This helps prevent abuse.
Limits and Expiry
Maximum Referrals Per Member — Set a cap on how many successful referrals a single member can make. This helps control costs while still incentivizing sharing.
Reward Expiry in Days — Set how many days referral credit remains valid before it expires. This encourages members to use their rewards promptly.
Referral Tracking
The Referral Tracking tab provides a complete view of your program's activity. You can see:
Who referred whom.
Conversion status of each referral (pending, completed, or expired).
Total referrals and rewards issued.
Use this data to understand how effectively your members are driving new sign-ups.
Display on Pass
Use the Display on Pass toggle to control whether the referral link appears on the wallet pass. You can also set a Custom Label for the referral section on the pass back, making it match your brand voice.
Tips
Offer rewards to both sides of the referral to maximize participation — members are more likely to share when their friends also benefit.
Enable the first purchase requirement to ensure referral rewards are tied to genuine new customers.
Set a reasonable maximum referral limit to control costs while keeping the program attractive.
Use short reward expiry periods to create urgency and drive faster redemptions.
Monitor your Referral Program dashboard regularly to track performance and adjust reward amounts as needed.
