Connecting Mailchimp
Navigate to Settings > Integrations in your Pocket dashboard. Find Mailchimp in the list and click Connect.
You'll be prompted to enter your Mailchimp API key. To find your API key in Mailchimp, go to Account > Extras > API Keys and copy an existing key or generate a new one. Paste it into Pocket and click Save.
Audience Sync
Once connected, Pocket members are synced to a Mailchimp audience (list). You can select which Mailchimp audience to sync with during setup.
The following member data is synced:
Email — used as the primary identifier
Name — first and last name
Tags — synced as merge fields in Mailchimp
Tier — the member's current tier level
Wallet status — whether the member has installed their wallet pass
Automatic Sync
The sync runs automatically and keeps your Mailchimp audience up to date as members join or their profiles are updated in Pocket. New members are added to your Mailchimp audience, and existing member data is updated when changes occur.
Enabling and Disabling
You can enable or disable the Mailchimp sync at any time from Settings > Integrations. Disabling the sync stops new data from being pushed to Mailchimp. Previously synced contacts remain in your Mailchimp audience.
Tips
Create your Mailchimp audience before connecting so you can select it during setup.
Use Mailchimp tags and segments alongside Pocket tier data for highly targeted campaigns.
If you rotate your Mailchimp API key, remember to update it in Pocket under Settings > Integrations.
Check the integration status on the Integrations page — if the connection shows an error, verify your API key is still valid.
