Push notifications let you send messages that appear directly on your members' phone lock screens and update their wallet pass. This guide walks you through creating and sending a campaign.

Note: Push Notifications is a PRO/Engage plan feature. Upgrade your plan if you do not see this option in your dashboard.

Navigating to Push Notifications

From your dashboard, go to Engage > Push Notifications to access the campaign management area. You can also navigate directly to dashboard.getpocketpass.com/engage/push-notifications.

Campaign List Page

The campaign list page shows all your past and current campaigns. Each campaign displays:

  • Campaign name — the title you gave the campaign

  • Status — Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Sent, or Cancelled

  • Send count — the number of members the notification was sent to

  • Date — when the campaign was created or sent

Creating a New Campaign

Click the New Campaign button to start building a push notification. You will be taken to the campaign composer.

Composing Your Message

Each push notification has two parts:

  • Header — a short, attention-grabbing title (maximum 64 characters)

  • Body — the main message content (maximum 256 characters)

Keep your message concise and actionable. Members see this on their lock screen, so clarity matters.

Preview

As you compose your message, a live preview shows how the notification will appear on a member's phone lock screen. Use this to check formatting and readability before sending.

How It Works

When you send a push notification campaign, two things happen:

  1. Lock screen notification — the member receives a notification on their phone, just like a text or app alert

  2. Wallet pass update — the member's wallet pass is updated, which can reflect new messaging or updated details

This combination ensures your message is seen both immediately and when the member next opens their wallet.

Campaign Status Flow

Campaigns move through the following statuses:

  1. Draft — the campaign is being composed and has not been sent

  2. Scheduled — the campaign is set to send at a future date and time

  3. Sending — the campaign is actively being delivered to members

  4. Sent — delivery is complete

Sending Immediately

Once your message is composed and your audience is selected, you can choose to Send Now to deliver the campaign immediately. The campaign status will move to Sending and then to Sent once delivery is complete.

Tips

  • Keep your header short and compelling — it is the first thing members see

  • Use the body to provide context or a clear call to action

  • Preview your notification before sending to catch any issues

  • Start with a small test audience before sending to all members

  • Visit your Push Notifications dashboard to review past campaign performance
