Automation templates are pre-built workflows designed to help you get started quickly. Instead of building an automation from scratch, you can choose a template that matches your goal, customize it to fit your needs, and enable it in minutes.

Browsing Templates

Navigate to Engage > Automations > Templates to browse the available automation templates.

Templates are organized by category so you can quickly find what you're looking for. Categories include workflows for welcoming new members, re-engaging inactive customers, rewarding milestones, handling referrals, and more.

Each template card shows a summary of what the automation does, making it easy to scan and compare options before choosing one.

What a Template Includes

Each template comes with a fully pre-configured automation workflow, including:

  • Trigger — the event that starts the automation (e.g., signup, birthday, inactivity)

  • Actions — the steps the automation performs (e.g., give credit, send notification, add tag)

  • Conditions — any if/else branching logic based on member attributes

  • Delays — pre-set wait periods between actions for optimal timing

Templates represent best-practice workflows that you can use as-is or modify to suit your specific program.

Applying a Template

To use a template:

  1. Browse the templates page and find one that matches your goal

  2. Click on the template to preview its workflow and configuration

  3. Click Use Template to create a new automation based on it

This creates a new automation in your account pre-populated with the template's trigger, actions, conditions, and delays. The new automation starts in a disabled state so you can review and customize it before going live.

Customizing an Applied Template

After applying a template, you can customize every aspect of the automation to match your needs:

  • Trigger settings — adjust the trigger configuration (e.g., change the number of inactivity days, select a different tag)

  • Action details — modify action parameters (e.g., change the credit amount, edit notification text, update the webhook URL)

  • Conditions — update condition criteria (e.g., change which tier to check for, adjust balance thresholds)

  • Delays — change the wait duration between actions

  • Add or remove nodes — insert additional actions, conditions, or delays, or remove ones you don't need

The template gives you a solid starting point, but you have full flexibility to make it your own.

Reviewing and Enabling

Before enabling your automation, take a moment to review the full workflow:

  1. Open the automation in the visual builder and walk through each node

  2. Verify that the trigger, conditions, actions, and delays are configured correctly

  3. Test the automation with a test member to confirm it works as expected

  4. When you're satisfied, flip the status toggle to enable the automation

Once enabled, the automation will start firing whenever its trigger conditions are met.

Tips

  • Templates are a great way to learn how automations work — even if you plan to build from scratch, reviewing a template can give you ideas for your own workflows

  • You can apply the same template multiple times to create variations — for example, use the same welcome template with different reward amounts for different tiers

  • Always review and customize a template before enabling it — default values may not match your specific program settings

  • Test with a test member before going live to ensure everything works as expected

  • Check back for new templates regularly — we add new templates as new features and best practices emerge
